Steps of bubble-eyed goldfish resin painting

April 6, 2017

Here are photos of our lovely bubble- eyed goldfish daily life which inspire us a lot. :D

Here we go!

Before painting a fish figure on resin layers.

You need to draw a draft on a paper which contains fish layout, pose and other decorations of artwork, such as stones.

And also you need to find a proper container. Wooden or bamboo material is the best choice.

Step 1:

When everything is ready.

Pour resin in the wooden container, then paint fish figure and fins lightly in white and red.

Zoom in

Be very careful and patient to paint fins by curved lines in red and red-orange (add more water).

Step 2:

Paint first layer on body bubble-eyed goldfish in light orange. Trace fish gill and mouth in light red.

Step 3:

Add bubbled eyes on the two sides of fish head. Be careful with its size and also painting subtly on the edge of eyes. Using uneven orange to color eyes, head and body, especially, when trying to paint brain (orange mixed with very few red).

Around body,  you can see we painted very subtle tiny scales.

Step 4:

Cover fish body in orange. Trace outline of head in light pink.

Repaint tiny scales again on the edge of fish body.

Step 5:

Paint another red-orange layer on eyes and head again.

When painting new layer on body and this time extend until end of tail. More red in the middle of body. After it drys, paint small scales and highlight of eyes in light yellow.

Step 6:

After pour resin on the top of last layer and wait it drys, paint bubbled eyes with thin dark color which can get by mixing few black with red. Be very careful when make fish scales in the middle of body. The side of fish body with light  scales will be seen afterwards. Create a beautiful and smooth fishtail, just imagine fish is dancing in the water. Try the best to make the movement be very graceful.

Step 7:

Paint edge of mouth and tiny tentacles with pink color. A couple of eyes are black and white, please use the paintbrush as small as you can. Paint something grey around eyes. Add another layer on body from face to the fishtail.

The middle line of fish body must follow the movement.

Step 8:

In order to make fish look more 3D, this step is very important. Make the reflected light on the left side of fish body a little bit yellower.

Then use smallest tiny size brush to shaded curved scales carefully on the top of fish body. Added very little bit more yellow and white paints on scales of the middle of body.

Step 9:

After new resin layer dried, darkened the reflected light on the right side of fish body. Highlight the left reflected light yellowy.

Step 10:

The key of last step is do not screw your lovely painting! Take a deep breath, then exhale slowly when you paint an elegant dorsal fin. Keep the movement as same as fish tail. Added extremely tiny dots on dorsal fin.
